A new airline begins service (no pun intended) today under the slogan "I'm searching for your face, Lord". While there are plenty of passengers on 'normal' airlines who have sought strength from above, or indeed pleaded for divine intervention, this is an operator for the seriously devout Christian flyer.
Flying from Rome, the Vatican has chartered flights to Lourdes initially followed by other pilgrimmage sites including Santiago de Compostela in Spain, Guadeloupe in Mexico and Fatima in Portugal.
The Italian cargo carrier Mistral Air will operate the flights. While it does not claim any higher power, it rather marvellously states that it will show mercy, if not charity, in the fare structure.
