The Soul of the Suffragettes

Ten people were arrested yesterday after environmental activists briefly blocked entrances to Biggin Hill airport, south of London, while another group targeted Farnborough airport, in Hampshire. The Metropolitan Police said 10 people were arrested at Biggin Hill on suspicion of aggravated trespass after the protesters chained themselves to the fence (the Suffragette movement have a lot to answer for!) A spokesman for the demonstrators said it was a protest against the growth in the number of people using private jets as opposed to scheduled flights - there's no evidence to suggest that British Airways were behind the protest.

James Brown (not the Godfather of Soul reincarnated) said the demonstration by about 20 people at Farnborough was abandoned after two and a half hours when the airport cheated by opening alternative gates
