Tough to Swallow

In the annals of the dopey passenger story this takes some beating. On a recent US domestic flight a male passenger aged about thirty asked the flight attendant if he could have a pillow. "I'm sorry," she replied, "but I'm afraid they've been discontinued; we only have them now on international flights." "What does that mean?" asked the passenger. "Well, it means we don't carry them any more." answered the flight attendant, slightly bemused by the question.

The passenger was still looking puzzled and after a moment's reflection said "Why not? Were people, like, choking on them?". The flight attendant managed to choke back her mirth while assuring him that nobody had been trying the eat the pillows, it was just a cost saving measure...
