Off the Wagon

The Irish actor who plays the part of Henry VIII in the TV series 'The Tudors' has joined the list of celebrities who have drawn attention to themselves for the wrong reasons at airports. Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been charged by the police with public drunkenness and a breach of the peace after creating a ruckus on Sunday at Dublin airport. He was arrested after refusing repeated requests to calm down at the BMI desk as he attempted to board a flight to London. He was bailed to appear before Dublin District Court on December 5th for arraignment having been charged with two counts of violating the Public Order Act.

He's obviously strayed from his self imposed tee-totalism; in an interview last year he claimed to feel restricted socialising in Ireland because of its pub culture. "I gave up drinking a few years ago, and this is the first time I've spent in my country trying not to drink. I would never drink again. It is hard to avoid. I want my career, and you can't really do that and be successful on the screen."
