Yesterday a man who had missed his flight at Seattle-Tacoma Airport told a gate agent there was a bomb on Northwest Airlines flight shortly after it had left bound for Memphis. "The plane was brought back, erring on the side of caution, after he made that threatening statement," Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Jennifer Peppin said.
Police confirmed there was no bomb on board several hours later, after bomb-sniffing dogs searched the plane. The man was never on the plane and had no luggage on the aircraft and it’s unclear why he wanted the plane to come back as it was obvious he was not going to get on it!
The fact is the guy’s a moron. He’ll no doubt be fined, possibly even jailed, but what they should do is ban him from ever traveling again. Not because of what he cost NW but because he obviously would have frightened some of the passengers.
