I was just browsing a 1963 copy of the melody maker when I came across this advert for flights from London's Gatwick airport to Blackpool with British United Airways (a forerunner of British Caledonian). It's interesting to compare prices then and now. £5 one-way equates to £161 today and £8 5s is the equivalent of £266 return.
