Checking In? That'll Cost You

That darling of the low cost sector RyanAir has unveiled another first. In keeping with their policy to pare fares to the bone and charge for anything which departs from their 'ideal customer' model they've announced that if you decide to be so awkward as to turn up at the airport and expect to go to a desk and check in for one of their flights, you'll have to pay a surcharge.

Rather like the decision they took last year to charge extra for any hold baggage, they have decided to make passengers pay extra for the privelege of checking in the old fashioned way; it's free to use their on-line service, so they're just 'encouraging' people to use it. Still, they're doing something right as they've just posted healthy profit figures. Must be all those surcharges.
